One of the wonderful things about living or visiting Xalapa is the cost of a meal. Last night we were going to Pomodoro, but the line was so long that we couldn't get in for an hour. So, just a few doors down, we found a small alley that had small tables set up along one wall. Well, the alley reminded us so much of the alley's we saw in Siena, Italy that we decided to investigate. We were very hungry!
Well, the place was a nice find. Not the gourmet food one would want when just out on the town, but quaint, nice atmosphere, and clean. The menu had food with a cuban influence, which means great baguette sandwiches. These were very big for the price, and along with a drink (mojito, cubre libre, etc.) only totaled about $18 for four of us.
So, if you are in the area of Zona Centro in Xalapa, and want a inexpensive meal, go to Cubanias. They are on Callejón Gonzalez Aparicio 1.
By the way, they have a great little porch overlooking the street where you can eat in privately. On the way there we passed through the kitchen and found it very clean!
