What food is area known for? Geraldine Ferro 11-30-07  
I was wondering what food the area is know for? I hear a lot of different talk about Mexican food in general, and I have a semi-strict diet, so was wondering what's the specialty? I'd like to know if I can eat it... please include ingredients.

The food is mole, enchiladas, eggs with sesoning (not really hot), tomato, sea food (be careful where you eat), pork, steak (thinner than in the States), beans, rice. The sauce of choice here in Veracruz is tomato, whereas in other parts of Mexico the favorite is white sauce. Garlic and onion are also favorites. Cheese is also favored. Imported cheese can be bought at a number of stores.

My wife should be telling you this as I am not a chef. But I eat everything. Vegetables are high on the list and you can buy them fresh at the local market.
