Eating in the woods by DOM
Post New Message Here is a well known but also well hidden restaurant in Coatepec that I love. "El Restaurante de las Cabanas del Tio Yeyo", not to be confused with the "El Restaurante del Tio Yeyo" which is in downtown Coatepec. Not to be confused either with "Las Cabanas del Tio Yeyo", cabins located way out in the mountain. I know because the first time I looked for the restaurant I ended up in the deep of the woods.
So to go to the right place you go to the centro via Constitucion, you continue straight, pass the church on your right, and turn right in the street that leads to Xico if you turn left. You go staright to the end, then left to the end, then right. You follow even thogh it's going to become a dirt road and then you follow the signs. About 5 minutes from the Coatepec Centro.
Arriving there is an enchantment. And once you're there you'll want to stay all afternoon. Surrounded by the forest you seat on the terrace of this huge log cabin overlooking ponds animated by ducks and geese and the river.
The specialty is of course the "trucha" and is very fresh since it comes right out from one the ponds.
It opens everyday until 8pm.
