Teaching English in Jalapa Pam 8-18-08  
My spouse and I are planning to winter in the Jalapa area in 2 years. I am a teacher and am interested in teaching English when we get there. Does anyone have suggestions are where to get started? The internet at this point is very overwhelming.

Dear Pam,
There are a few schools that teach Eng. in Xalapa and Coatepec. You may start with these until you become familiar with the procedures and then you can start your own school. If you want the names of the schools, let me know. I am sure there are other expats out there who can give you more information.

Is there some sort of certification that is required by the Mexican government?

I know a lot of Americans who are still learning English for themselves (sarcasm) and should not teach English.(Not making reference to anyone in this forum, of course).

Yikes! I can't imagine the damage if proper grammar, sentence structure, or vocabulary wasn't properly taught.
