Land prices Teresa 7-29-08  
Would anyone have information about land prices in the highlands surrounding Xalapa? What crops other than coffee are profitable?

Dear Teresa,

Land prices vary from $800 pesos per sq. meter to over $1,000 pesos per sq. meter. Negotiations are always possible. East of Xalapa toward Veracruz which is dryer, mangos, papaya, and other citrus fruits are abundant. Southeast and most of the areas except West are good for sugar cane. Pineapple also grows well but they are smaller than in Martinez de la torre. Almost everything grows in this area. Oranges, limas, blackberries, macadamia, tangerines, and all types of vegetables. The soil is rich and fertile.

Hey Smily, I think that would be in pesos, which, according to the current exchange rate would be about $23,000 US.
