In Canada our children spend a lot of time at the mall, bowling, playing at the park - and, of course, all of these activities are combined with text messaging - just like in the U.S.

What do teenagers tend to do for recreation in Xalapa and how is the cell phone service? Costs?

The activities are the same here. Cell phones are the scourge of the 21st century. The costs are resonable and the service is good in the large cities. The most popular is Telcel owned by Telemex. There are others and the cost is about the same unless you want to contact someone of a different company such as Moviestar. Then the costs are more. For $200.00 pesos for example, you get $240.00 pesos worth of calls. But the promotions are always changing. And if you don't use the time you have bought within a specified time, your service is cut off until you pay at least $5.00 pesos. A rip! But what can you do?

There is rafting nearby to Xalapa, Cliff climbing, fishing, hiking. Pico Orizaba at 18,600 feet is a challenge for the hardy. Golf, Tennis, go-carts and a number of other outdoor activities are available. There is the theater-music, dance, folklore, and shows and entertainers that come to town. Museums and other art displays are also available. So there is alot to do depending on your interests. Hope this answers your questions satisfactorilly. If not write again.
